2-5-21 THOUGHTS

God’s use of BLOOD in His plan is perfectly considered.  COST is the issue.  LIFE FOR LIFE!  So SACRIFICE is instituted to REMIND and IMPRESS!  It all ends in the LORD’S SUPPER and “the BLOOD OF THE COVENANT”!  At great cost, we LIVE IN HOPE!
Lev 17:11   ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’
Heb 9:14-23    how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?  15  For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16  For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it. 17  For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. 18  Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. 19  For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20  saying, "THIS IS THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT WHICH GOD COMMANDED YOU." 21  And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22  And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. 23   Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
Heb 12:24    and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
Heb 13:20    Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord,
John 6:53-54    So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.  54  "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.    [This is spiritual , figurative language.  The word “EAT” demands a total involvement of ourselves!]
Luke 22:20    And in the same way [He took] the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.”

My Prayer:
The wisdom of your plan to save us is absolutely awesome Oh God. We see your great love in Jesus as the cost of that love.  Help us to see truly, and to always be  motivated by what we see.  Thank you for the promises made good by the blood of the Lamb.  Please accept our praise and love.                   In Jesus name           Amen
